Privacy Policy
What we collect, how we use it, and your rights under GDPR.
The short version
We store your email address and, if you sign in with Google, a copy of your Google profile picture. We will never sell, share, or misuse your personal information. Ever.
What we collect
When you create an account we store your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your Google account ID. If you sign in with Google we also download a copy of your Google profile picture and store it on our servers so it can be displayed in the app — we do not link back to Google's servers after that. If you connect Google Photos, we store the OAuth tokens needed to write to your library on your behalf.
We do not collect names, phone numbers, payment information, or any other personal data.
How we use it
- To send you a magic sign-in link when you request one.
- To authenticate your session.
- To push images to your Google Photos account at your explicit request.
That's it. We use your data for nothing else.
What we never do
- We will never Sell, rent, or share your email or any other personal information with third parties.
- We will never Send you marketing emails.
- We will never Use your data to train AI models.
- We will never Show you ads.
Third-party services
Scientia Cognita is hosted on infrastructure that may process requests on our behalf (server hosting, transactional email). These processors act only on our instructions and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
If you connect Google Photos, you are also subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Data retention
Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings, which will permanently remove your email and tokens from our systems.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws, you have the following rights over your personal data:
- Access — You can download a copy of all data we hold about you at any time from your account settings.
- Portability — Your data export is provided as a standard JSON file you can read with any text editor.
- Erasure — You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from your account settings. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
- Rectification — You can update your email address at any time from your account settings.
These rights are exercised directly in Account Settings and require no form or manual request.
